Dinas Powys U16 Ravens have been celebrating winning another league and cup double!
This victory concludes a resounding season, ending their final year in Junior football at the top.
Head coach Trystan Foote, assisted by Mark Reed, Chris Chapman, and Adrian Criddle, saw the team end their season with a 20-game unbeaten run on May 11, 2024, being crowned the Vale of Glamorgan U16 League Champions.
They claimed this honour despite suffering an opening day defeat to this season’s runners-up, FC Barry.
The U16 Ravens showed true grit, ending the season with not only the championship title but also striking gold in the Vale League Cup against Sully.
This extraordinary success marks the third consecutive winning season for these young men after completing similar feats at U14 and U15 levels. The majority of the team has played together for a decade.
Michael Chapman, the team’s unwavering goalkeeper, performed well alongside a strong defence of Will Rees, Rhys Muxworthy, Tom Lang, Emile Criddle, Dylan Bowen and Finley Jenkins that conceded just 16 goals in the league this season.
The midfield driven by Ollie Foote, Elliott Waite, Dylan Aubrey, and featuring wide attacking options like Zac Reed, John Muxworthy and Luca Cavalieri, proved formidable.
In attack, the league’s golden boot winner Kylan Erickson and Ashton Hammill posed a ceaseless threat, contributing to the overall season tally of 163 goals in all competitions. Kylan scored 54 of these.
After this year’s domination, the Ravens’ sights are set on early preparations for September's Youth League, following a well-earned rest and GCSE exams.
Their admirable performance in the final season of Junior football signals an exciting future.
