THIS year's outdoor Murch Bowling Club, Dinas Powys, ladies section, season was officially opened on April 19, Easter Saturday, an event much anticipated by all club members.
The usual mixed rinks provided an opportunity to play on grass and the opening event, 'a spider', was won by this year's lady captain Sheila Mauchline.
We would like to thank those members of the public who attended our open day to sample the social aspects of the club as well as a game with a view to becoming future members.
The first game played was a friendly against Barry Athletic, our annual first fixture. Unfortunately only 10 ends were able to be played because inclement weather.
Rink 2 - P Goode, M Rice, A Crouch and skip Jenkins, 11 - 4; Rink 3 - C Russell, P Munter, P Ayres and skip C Tranter, 9-8; Rink 3 - C Real, G Hayes, S Wade and M Clake, 24-1.
