PENARTH and Dinas Runners enjoyed a run around the Parkwood Porthkerry 5 course last Monday evening to check the conditions of the route and discovered the course is better than ever.

The race is set in the scenic surroundings of Porthkerry Park in Barry, with race HQ in the new lodge under the fabulous viaduct.

There's even a chance to see the sea in the first mile.

However, don't be deceived into thinking this is an easy run, as the course has a couple of testing hills as it leaves the park heading west towards the airport, and then on the second half of the figure of eight course up through the woods on the east side of the park.

But what goes up has to come down and both descents give a good chance of catching your breath or pushing on in the chase to catch fellow competitors, and with a great finish down the park towards that viaduct again.

The Forest Cafe is going to be open early on the day to welcome people who want to come along early and sign up on the day, and there are still plenty of places available. On the day entry will be £10.

Penarth and Dinas Runners look forward to seeing you there on Sunday, May 11.
