Doing it for Dad

TWO brave sisters faced their fears last Sunday taking part in a 210ft abseil to raise money for charity.

Sue Wingren, 30, of Shakespeare Avenue, and Sandra Marsh, 37, of Castle Avenue, abseiled down Brunel House, Cardiff, raising £400 for Cancer Research.

The pair completed the task in memory of their stepfather Phillip Price who died of cancer at the beginning of the year.

Sue said: "My sister read about the event and told me, and we thought it sounded like a good idea. It was an excellent day. I'd do it again tomorrow.

"Before we went up to the top, my sister was calm and I was nervous. But when we got up there, I just went over the top. In the end we went down together singing Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves."

The sisters got other participants joining in too.

Sue said: "We had a major laugh at the top. We got two girls to sing I Believe I Can Fly and one woman to sing the Orville song I Wish I Could Fly. It was brilliant."

Sue's sister, Carole Morris, who was watching from the bottom, said: "I thought it was wonderful. They're heroes for doing it."

Their proud mother Pat Price, of Prince Charles Court, said: "I thought it was marvellous. I knew they would do it for Phillip."

Sue and Sandra would like to say thank you to Steve at Town Cars for their support.
