PHOENIX GYMNASTIC'S success continues with medal places at the Welsh Agility championships held at Merthyr on Sunday, October 14.
In a very tough field of over 160 competitors, Megan Richards aged nine, clinched first place as the overall Level 3 champion with a score of 27.7 out of a maximum of 30, in the under 10 category.
In the under 12 section Kate Galea went on to win third place with a score of 27.5 in a group of over 50 competitors. Lucy Galea and Lia Thomas achieved top ten places in the under 10 Level 2 age group.
This success reflects the hard work by both the gymnasts and their coaches and is an apt follow up to the girls recent Welsh Challenge Cup results when Megan achieved a very credible ninth position with Kate 15th.
This week sees the girls travelling once again to the high performance Pinewood Gymnastics Club in Berkshire for several additional training sessions before the next round of competitions.
In addition Phoenix are close to negotiating a sponsorship deal with a Cardiff based IT company. This will enable them to purchase additional equipment and fund additional training sessions, which will enable them to continue their rapid progress.
Coaches Helen Cope, Jenny John and Lorraine Beaumont were extremely pleased with the girls' success.
