Specular night will go with a bang

PENARTHIANS can buy tickets this week for this year's Cardiff Round Table Fireworks show.

The annual event, which attracts crowds of more than 20,000, will be held in Coopers Field, Cardiff Castle on Saturday, 3rd November.

The Round Table have staged the event for almost 20 years in the centre of the Welsh capital and during that time the organisation has raised nearly £200,000 which has been ploughed back into local charities and good causes.

This year's spectacle once again will include the lighting of a Bonfire and a firework show, which has been specially created for the event.

Rhodri Kendall, Chairman of the organising committee, said: "The show will be one of the best we have provided for the people of Cardiff. It will be an entertaining night for all the family. As well as the traditional Guy Fawkes night entertainment there will be fairground attractions as well as refreshment points."

This year there will be an additional point of entry to the field - across the Millennium Footbridge at Sophia Gardens where the car park will also be open. Family ticket holders will be able to take advantage of this new route to and from Coopers Field," added Mr Kendall.

Entrance to the show is £10 for a family ticket, £5 for an adult and £3 for children. Tickets are available from Ticketline on Westgate Street, Cardiff at a discount for purchases in advance of the event.

There is a special hotline for ticket sales - telephone 08700 667799.

Gates open at 5.00pm, the bonfire will be lit at 6.15pm and the fireworks launched at 7.00pm. The organisers hope to keep as closely to these times as possible. In the event of the show being postponed due to bad weather conditions it will take place on November 4th at the same times.

Cardiff City Council, Red Dragon FM and Celf Creative sponsor the Cardiff Round Table Fireworks 2001 spectacular.
