Big Cliffy storms through Ex's Board

BIG CLIFF Woods showed why he is the current 1001 champion in Penarth by storming through on the Ex-Servicemen's board and scoring 14 tons and over along the way.

The first match on the board was Paul Patterson against Dil Walters with Dil winning scoring 100, 5x. Next up was Cliffy and Maggs Rowley. Cliffy proved too strong scoring 120, 100, 140, 140, 15x. Team mates N Madrick and Brian Nurse played each other, Brian scored 100, 100 but Naz won scoring 100, 137, 2x.

Dennis de Claire had a bye through to the next round, Dennis was first up in the board semi-finals against Dil. They both played well with Dennis scoring 100, 140 and Dynamite Dil winning through with scores of 140, 140, 100, 140, 8x. Cliffy played Naz who scored 100 but Cliffy was again in good form scoring 100, 100, 100, 140, 100, 16x. The final looked a bit one sided with Cliffy in great form yet again scoring 100, 121, 100, 134, 100, 10x, Dil scored 121.

Jack Frost is a player who seems to be on top of his game at the moment perhaps because of his new specs, who knows? Anyway, Davie Hodges and Yanno James played first with Davie playing well scoring a maximum 180, 100, 100, 100, 140 but Yanno won the leg scoring 140, 140, 140, 10x. Elvis played team mate Jack and found him in good form, Elvis scored 100 but Jack scored 100, 100, 121, 20x.

Wally had a very good game and overpowered Doug Elliott scoring 140, 180, 140, 100, 140, 1x. Doug scored 140. Colin Williams had a bye through to the semi-final. Yanno played Jack in the first board semi-final. Yanno scored 140, 100. Jack won scoring 100, 100, 100, 100, 20x.

Wally played Colin in the other semi-final, Colin scored 121, 140 bit Wally out-scored him with 121, 100, 100, 100, 100, 1x, so it was Wally and Jack in the board final but Wally's scores seem to have left him as he only managed a 121, but Jack carried on where he had left off in the previous game scoring 100, 100, 100, 4x to go through to the finals at the end of the season.

Mark Stowe won through on the Cogan Board and he is hoping to go one better than last season and win this time around.

Blobby and Willy played first, Blobby scored a ton but will won on 10x. Lomu Grant played Eddie Bousie and although Eddie scored 140, 140, Lomu won through with 140, 100, 20x. Eddie Coombs played Mark Stowe but Mark was in good form scoring 100, 140, 100, 8x to go into the next round.

Rob Darker played his long time team-mate T-Shirt who just pipped him to the double with 100, 3x. Rob scored 121. Will played Lomu in the first board semi-final. Lomu scored 140, 100 but Will beat him to the double scoring 100, 8x. T-Shirt produced a maximum 180 and a ton but it was not enough to beat team-mate Mark who scored 140, 100, 100, 5x, so the board final was between Willy and Mark, Willy produced his best darts of the evening but it was not enough as Mark now had the bit firmly between his teeth and was not going to let the opportunity of making the finals pass him by.

Mark scored a maximum 180, 120, 100 and a 74 out shot on 20x.

The Pilot Hotel board was a bit short-handed when a couple of players could not turn up including the Viking who had injured himself in work and was unable to play. But of the players that did turn up, some excellent darts were played with Carlos the Jackall winning through to the next round.

Nigel Wade fell victim to an in-form Paul Stowe who scored 140, 100, 100, 125, 174, 16x. Carl and Dai Rowley played next with Dai scoring a ton and Carl playing well and scoring 100, 125, 100, 100, 20x. That meant the final was between Paul and Carl. Paul scored 100, 100 but Carl proved too consistent on the night and won through to the finals with scores of 140, 100, 140, 20x.

Games for this Friday are: Pilot v Ex's B; Legion A v Bye; Coro A v Legion B; Ex's A v Malthouse; Cogan v Cons.
