CD Reveiw: Natalie Imbruglia's 'White Lilies Island'

NATALIE IMBRUGLIA'S new album White Lilies Island, the follow up to her smash Left of the Middle, is completely enchanting.

With sounds not dissimilar to The Corrs and Dido, the album is relaxing and perfect for chilling, with 12 tracks, many with hit potential.

It kicks off with current hit 'That Day', the song which sees Imbruglia 'talking' the lyrics. This song, though full of fun and frenzy, has received mixed reaction with some listeners loving it, and some hating the new sound.

'Beauty on the Fire' is a calm song with thoughtful lyrics, while 'Satellite', which refers to her lover, is another relaxing song.

'Do you love' is a totally beautiful song asking a child if it needs love, with brilliant lyrics and a pretty tune.

It's followed by 'Wrong Impression', a gentle song, and 'Goodbye', possibly the best song on the album with haunting melodies, thought-provoking lyrics and emotive vocals.

'Everything Goes' is a really relaxing song, with thoughtful lyrics such as 'You live your life like an island, surrounded by, water and silence', while 'Hurricane' samples nature's sounds, with Imbruglia's voice completely angelic and crystal clear.

'Sunlight' is, as the name suggests, nice and bright, while 'Talk in tongues' is a little sombre, a love lost kind of song.

'Butterflies' is quite an upbeat track though the lyrics are not: 'Butterflies, Butterflies, cut the stomach out and hand it over' - nice.

'Come September' is a lovely track, and finishes the album in a gentle, sleepy way.
