Christmas disco will be wicked

A PENARTH student has spoken out about the boring image Penarth has for young people in the area.

Sam Gould, 17, of Salisbury Avenue has read with interest the opinions of the teenagers in Penarth and has decided it's about time that concept changed.

He told the Penarth Times: "I'm a teenager myself, and I can understand a bit of how Penarth can seem so dull when you're too young to stay indoors, but not legally old enough to get into pubs and clubs."

Sam, a student of Stanwell Comprehensive School said: "I am working together with the Information Shop on Stanwell Road. We have already organised a number of Zone discos for 13-17-year-olds inclusive, and we want to do it again. If this one is as successful as the last, we might start trying to make it a regular thing, whenever there is a big event perhaps."

The Zone Christmas party 2001 will take place in the Paget Rooms on Friday, December 14 between 7 and 10.45pm. Sam added: "Tickets will cost £2 when bought in advance, and £3 on the door. It's run by the Information Shop, who will be supervising on the night. And there will be no alcohol."

As an incentive for parents to support their children, 50 percent of the proceeds will be given to Ty Hafan Children's Hospice. Sam said: "I hope this event can be even bigger and better than the last one, as well as raising as much money for Ty Hafan as possible. It will have all the latest music, smoke machines and lighting. It promises to be a wicked night."

Tickets are available from the Information Shop on Stanwell Road, and other outlets to be announced. For further details, telephone the Information Shop on 029 2040 5305.
