TWO Penarth lovebirds turned fantasy into reality this week when they married in the style of The Chronicles of Narnia.
Naomi Elson, 24, and Jason Excell, 25, of Coronation Terrace, played Prince and Princess at their wedding in Plassey Street Gospel Hall on Saturday.
The lovestruck pair met two years ago when they worked for British Gas - Jason in Leicester and Naomi in Cardiff.
Jason said: "I had to regularly transfer calls to her and consequently we got talking. Eventually I gave her my telephone number and after several three hour conversations, we met up for a weekend in Warwick."
The romance blossomed and six months later Jason moved to Cardiff. On Naomi's bookshelf he discovered C S Lewis' The Complete Chronicles of Narnia.
He said: "Having never read them, I began on the first one and Naomi convinced me to read it to her instead. She then read the second to me and so on until we'd read them all.
"When we decided we were going to get married we knew we wanted to do something different, but still include a Christian service. As the Chronicles of Narnia are biblical, we decided we'd like that as a theme."
To keep the theme of Narnia when he proposed, he wrote a novel that placed both he and Naomi in Narnia.
He said: "When I got to the chapter where I propose, I memorised this and proposed as I recited the story."
The wedding saw Jason, Naomi, Jason's mum Betty and Naomi's mum Lynda making costumes, the cake, cake figures, flags, table flowers and a 12 foot painting for the St Fagans reception.
Betty played the White Witch, Lynda the Queen, Naomi's dad John the King, best man Daz a knight, and bridesmaids Kirstie, Jodie, Jill, Chloe and Gaynor Tree Dryads.
The happy couple are honeymooning in Gran Canaria.
