Harry Potter (12)
ONE OF this year's most anticipated movies brings a magical blend of characters and special effects to cinemas all around the country.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone weaves its wonderful spell as we follow a young Harry Potter who is totally unaware of his magical potential.
His lack of sorcery knowledge is due to his horrible Aunt and Uncle Dursley (who are excellently played by Fiona Shaw and Richard Griffiths) who he has been living with for as long as he can remember.
They treat him with contempt and favour their real, but nasty, son Dudley.
But his life is about to change, as his 11th birthday draws near he is accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, much to the disapproval of his Aunt and Uncle who try in vain to stop him from going. A friendly giant named Rubeus Hagrid, who is outstandingly played by Robbie Coltrane, escorts Harry to his new school. He is also the keeper of the keys and groundsman at Hogwarts.
While journeying to the school Harry meets Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), two fellow first year students who become firm friends and adventure seekers.
Harry Potter is a well crafted film with wonderful visual effects that help to make this movie a dazzling experience for all.
