THE MANAGER and coaches of Sully Colts U-12s were extremely delighted when the team added Cogan 'A' to their current list of scalps.
The manager stated that this was a magnificent performance against a side who have a lot of talent, and if you give them time and space they will give you a lot of problems. But the Colts stopped them playing and none could argue that they were worthy winners of this derby match.
Against the run of play it was Cogan who opened the scoring with a swinging shot from Dean Bezant that went in off the post, just prior to this Jac Williams netted for the Colts but it was disallowed after it was thought that he had fouled the opposing defender, much to the surprise of the crowd. TheColts pushed forward for most of the first half giving Cogan plenty to deal with, the best chance going to new signing Jacob Rudman who has slotted in well with his fellow striker.
After the interval Cogan changed their position a little to try to upset the Colts rhythm but they were having none of it and thwarted their attacks with a solid back line and goalkeeping from Alex Cox. Soon after Sully equalised with a goal from Jac Williams after fine and determined work from Keiron Harding and Nicky Reid in the midfield, Cogan's misery was complete when Ben Luck also got on the score sheet for Sully.
At this point in the season Sully remain one of the only two teams who remain unbeaten so far in the league winning nine and drawing two and are also through to the semi-finals of the cup. Man of the Match went to Matthew Sutton. Sully Colts would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr and Mrs Cox for sponsoring the team with their excellent new kit.
