Dinas Powys Golf Club (Ladies)

ON TUESDAY, December 4 the members of Dinas Powys Golf Club Ladies section were lucky when the day dawned bright and sunny.

The new lady captain Mrs Jeni Mapstone rode to the 18th tee in a festively adorned buggy.

Mrs Vera Hollyman was the lucky lady to have her marker nearest to where the ball landed and so won a bottle of wine.

Also on that day was the last turkey trot competition. The winners, who will be eating well this Christmas were: Betty Elliott, Rosalie Clode and Dorothy Phillips Amery.

On Thursday, December 10 the club had an open day for a nine hole Stableford, mulled wine and mince pies competition. This was well attended and the weather was fine.

The winners were visitors 1 Maureen Hact (St Andrews) 13pts (back 9), 2 Jean Donovan (Llanishen), 13 points.

Dinas Powys members: 1 Sue Thomas 16pts, 2 Angela Brown 15pts (back 6).

On December 11 the club held a nine hole par competition. Winners were: 1 Pam Hanmer +2, 2 Mary Burke -2, 3 Zena Graham -3.
