Fun and games at the festive pantomime

SINCE the Penarth Operatic and Dramatic Society's (PODS) last performance, Family Planning by Frank Vickery, Penarth has been eagerly awaiting the start of the panto season. Oh yes, it has!

And as the opening curtain rose in the Paget Rooms, it promised just the same level of performance as always delivered by the PODS.

To pick any one character out of the colourful array offered on Thursday, December 6, would be unfair as all actors attacked their part with equal gusto.

With colourful costumes, a mixture of modern music and the old panto classics, Aladdin truly had something for all the family to enjoy. The children were invited up on the stage for an impromptu version of Chin Chin Chinaman, the whole audience sang along to Nellie the Elephant.

As always, it looked as though the actors were having just as good a time as the people there to watch. And the old favourites were not forgotten, with the chance to yell 'He's behind you!' and 'Oh no it's not!'

There's nothing quite like a panto to kick-start the festive season. The whole evening was highly entertaining.
