Sports Personality nominations sought

NOMINATIONS are being sought for the annual Vale of Glamorgan Sports Personality of the Year awards.

Organised by the Vale of Glamorgan District Sports Council in partnership with the area's Sports Development Unit, the presentation evening will be held at KR's Nightspot, Barry Island, on Friday, March 1.

Hosted by HTV Wales presenter Arfon Haines Davies, the prestigious event raises the profile of local sport and rewards and acknowledges the fantastic local sporting achievements of the past 12 months.

There are eight nomination categories to ensure all areas of the sporting community are recognised: junior male and female, senior male and female, special achievement, junior and senior team and coach.

District Sports Council chairman Merlyn Priddle said: "The Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony is the highlight of the Vale of Glamorgan sporting calendar because it recognises the superb and diverse range of sporting talent within the local community."
