LOCAL residents are at the end of their tether when it comes to litter, judging by feedback the Penarth Times has received this week.
Following an appeal for your views, we've been inundated with complaints from angry locals.
David Hitt, of Dinas Powys, said: "We've been getting a fair amount of trouble. Behind the house is a lane and kids hang around there. I know for a fact they're smoking cannabis. I've also picked up 12 rubber gloves, I don't know what they're for.
"I've got a two-year-old daughter, Jasmine, who sometimes wanders out there. I don't want her to be with that stuff."
A Dinas Powys resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the Murch area was a state.
She said: "I have to walk with at least two carrier bags in my pockets because of dogs' muck. I've got two children, aged three and seven, who I take to the two schools and this morning, for example, there were at least five piles on the way.
"All these disgusting people with their dogs, haven't they got any respect? Dog muck can even cause blindness."
Wordsworth Avenue resident Geraldine Winnan said the worst place was Victoria Square: "Youngsters gather in doorways leaving rubbish, broken bottles and really nasty stuff. There's also lots of dogs' muck around: people don't bother to bin it."
Malcolm Stewart Irvine, of Coleridge Avenue, said: "The grass verges outside my house are a mess. If a car's in the way, people take a shortcut over them. People have a total disregard for the environment. To me, that's vandalism."
A Merlin Close resident, who did not want to be named, said: "We've got a footpath at the end of the close and it's a disgrace. There are crisp packets, cans, bottles and more. It's all over the place."
