Golden lollipops

VICTORIA primary school lollipop lady Margaret Reegan has been voted Penarth's top crossing patrol volunteer.

And the award for Sully and Dinas Powys has gone to Carol Garland, of Dinas Powys Infant and Murch Junior.

Overall winner in the Vale of Glamorgan crossing patrol competition was Karen Jewess of Jenner Park.

They were presented with their awards by the Vale's cabinet member for planning and transportation, Cllr Tony Williams.

Also receiving area awards were: Barry - Pam Griffiths (High Street Primary); St Athan, Rhws and Llantwit Major - Shirley Dorkings (Rhws Primary).

There was a special award for "The Peterston Ladies" group of Betty Stears, Bonny Hodsell and Thelma Bolston for their voluntary work as school crossing patrols with the Peterston Walking Bus.
