Peter and Sian to fence in Scotland

CONGRATULATIONS to Peter and Sian Blackman, of Dinas Powys, who have been selected to represent Wales at the Junior Home International Fencing competition in Scotland in March.

Peter, who specialises in the foil and Sian in epee are having quite a successful season.

Before Christmas they represented Wales at the Cadet Winton Cup, an inter-regional competition at Millfield School and they have both qualified for the British Championship in foil and epee which takes place later this month.

At the weekend they also gained medals in the Welsh Youth Epee and Sabre Championships - Sian Gold under-16 epee and Peter, bronze under-18 epee and silver under-18 sabre.

They both attend the Bishop of Llandaff High School and are coached by Professor Peter Steward in school and at the Cardiff Club.
