Comedy show was surreal

IT'S A little known fact that the Welsh celebrate two days after St David's Day.

But if you went to the Glee Club last weekend, that's exactly what you would have been doing.

Comedian Noel Wyn James was joined by co-performers Alison Can-non and Steve Best on Sunday March 3 for a belated St David's Day show.

With his trademark surreal style, Noel entertained the intimate audience for nearly two hours. From Japanese Godzilla-spinning to impromptu sketches, the show was rarely predictable and seemingly without coherent direction.

In other words, you never knew what was coming next.

The show must have been difficult to organise, with just three people entertaining thro-ughout the night. But they executed it admirably.

There are still some members of the audience a bit unsure whether the mobile phone that rang earlier in the evening was an accident well worked into a later sketch, or whether it had been planted. With Noel, nothing is certain.

The night was a pleasant break from the norm. The audience participation was a far cry from auditorium stand-up and added that personal touch.

Whether slapstick humour or subtle punning there was something to amuse everyone there.
