THREE Penarth teenagers looking for fame are donning the glitter ready for auditions this weekend.
Stanwell School pupils Jo Osmond, Nicola Durston and Hannah Shaw make up the dance group Glitz and are auditioning for Search For A Star 2002.
The Reef-sponsored competition, dubbed South Wales' top talent contest, will see hundreds from around the region battling it out to be named the ultimate star.
The 14-year-olds will be dancing to Kylie Minogue's In Your Eyes and Christina Milian's AM/PM in front of a Pop Idol-style panel of judges. Their audition is on Tuesday, March 12, at Canton Liberal Club.
But before then, gutsy Jo will be performing a solo on her own as Little Jo at Cathays Liberal Club tomorrow, Friday, March 8.
Jo said: "We started the Kylie Minogue dance last Saturday so we haven't been doing that one very long. I'm looking forward to it though, it will be really good."
Jo, who has previously appeared on the Disney Channel, Esther, Live and Kicking and Short Change, added: "Nicola and I go to dance classes at Trinity with Emma Bagwell, and Hannah used to go dancing. We're enjoying it."
The girls got the name Glitz when Jo's mum Lisa phoned up to enter them in the competition.
Jo said: "The person on the phone asked what the group's name was and my mum ran into the kitchen and asked for a name. My mum suggested Glitter Babes but I said that was childish and came up with Glitz. I called myself Little Jo."
Hannah said: "I'm nervous, but excited," and Nicola added: "I'm looking forward to it and just trying to remember the dance."
