CDs Review

ALANIS Morissette is back and this time it's with 'under rug swept', an 11-track strong album of grunge-fuelled delight.

It launches with '21things I Want In A Lover', re-introducing us to her powerful voice. It is followed by 'Narcissus', a nice song which is pretty original, even if a bit monotone in parts.

Current big hit 'Hands Clean' is up next, which has evocative lyrics like 'I might want to marry you one day, if you'd watch that weight and keep your firm body'.

'Flinch is a lovely smooth song which is claming and restful, followed by 'So Unsexy', a nonchalant run-of-the-mill song.

'You Owe Me Nothing In Return' is nothing special as it bobs along, while 'Surrender' is far stronger with Alanis displaying an almost haunting voice. The album ends with 'Utopia', which as you could expect from the name is gentle, serene and liquid-like.
