Lorries are a muddy nuisance!

A FURIOUS Dinas Road resident says he is totally fed up after weeks of having his car and house covered in mud.

Richard Enticknap, 63, is annoyed about road works at the Redlands Road junction which result in trucks taking mud down to the Cogan Hall Farm end.

Then, according to Mr Enticknap, mud is loaded onto a large lorry and brought back up Dinas Road towards Redlands Road for depositing somewhere else.

He said: "We've had the council here and they say there's a wheel-wash for the lorries, but I can't see one.

"They say they've cleaned it up but instead of having a proper road sweeper, they've got a brush on the back of a truck throwing up mud. My granddaughter Chantelle, 22, left her Renault Clio here for a few days and after that it was so dirty she had to take it for a pressure wash."

Work started on January 27 and involves building a new traffic light junction.

Mr Enticknap said: "Vehicles are here from 7.30am. They've churned up grass verges, there's mud splashing over the cars and our house is covered in mud.

"My grandchildren Kayleigh, 13, and Liam, ten, say they can't even get out of the car without getting dirty.

"The council said it's acceptable. But I work at Cardiff Docks and know about dust levels in the air and I don't think what we're suffering is acceptable."

He added: "We've been here 30 years and we've never had anything like this."

A council spokesman said: "We monitor the situation every day to make sure that the disruption is kept to a minimum.

"There will be more work over the next four weeks with traffic signals. After that, there will be another four weeks for an improvement scheme at Dinas Road."
