Gang rehearses

SEVENTY Penarth youngsters are getting glammed up for this year's Gang Show. The event, which runs Monday, April 15 to Sunday, April 21, stars brownies, cubs, scouts and guides from Penarth, Dinas Powys, Llandough and Sully.

They are currently working hard for the performances, which take place at the Paget Rooms, learning dance routines and ingenious scripts.

The enthusiastic stars are also brushing up on their singing skills for songs including Hello Dolly, Gone West and Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport.

Now they are hunting down the final perfect costumes for the show but are having particular difficulty with one aspect in particular.

They are seeking a pair of knee-length white boots in a size seven for the week of the show. But in the tradition of keeping the show a secret, organisers would not divulge to the Times what sort of part the boots would play. If you can help, please contact Brian Wardell on 2040 7457.

Barry Angus, publicity officer, said: "It's going to be a great show. The songs have been ringing out from the halls at All Saints Church since the beginning of October during the rehearsals.

"The enthusiasm is dynamic and all the youngsters are enjoying the hard work at rehearsals and are looking forward to the week of the show."

Advance bookings are already being made (for these phone Mr Wardell on the above number) and tickets will be available from April 1 from Penarth Travel, Washington Buildings.

Shows are on Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm and on Saturday and Sunday for matinees at 2.30pm.

Organisers are also seeking Mrs M T Griffin who ordered tickets for the show but did not include her address on the booking. Please can she contact Mr Wardell to pass on the details.
