BRAINY members of a Penarth youth club have been representing Wales in a national music competition.
Damion Carter, Craig Forsythe and Sean Jenkins of Elfed Avenue Young People's Club went to London for the National Association for Clubs for Young People's annual Music Quiz.
The venue was the Sony Recording Studios at Whitfield Street, where the Spice Girls, Paul Weller and pop princess Kylie Minogue have all recorded albums.
The team overcame fierce competition at Nant-Y-Moel in Wales to qualify for a place in the national finals and were very excited. Although the youth club reached the Welsh finals last year, they did not get to the national finals.
Although the boys did not win they put up a brave fight.
Youth leader Phillip Carter said: "Reaching the final was an achievement in itself of which we are all proud.
"Everyone enjoyed the weekend and we are looking forward to bettering our performance next year."
The boys got a look behind the scenes at the studio where they saw framed pictures of their favourite stars and platinum CDs. They also saw memorabilia from films such as The Mummy and The Matrix.
The club says it would like to thank the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wales and local business Monty Smith's Garages for their kind donations towards funding the weekend.
