Thank you all

A MESSAGE of thanks and appreciation to all who made so much effort to make my 80th birthday weekend so full of surprises, so heart-warming and so humbling.

To all my family for the fantastic dinner party on Thursday, for all the love and affection shown to me and for mouth-watering cake. To see everyone together again was wonderful.

To all the officers, Boys, Old Boys and their parents and friends who worked so hard to provide the band and reception for Church Parade on Sunday. This took me completely by surprise and for the first time in my life left me speechless.

A particular thank you to Matthew who worked behind the scenes to set it all up and to Mr John Boase the President of the Cardiff and the Vale Branch. His kind words in making the presentation of the plaque for the company.

I was sorry not to be able to respond fully, the words would not come. To all my friends at Albert Road Methodist Church, for the service Miss Joyce Wells conducted. It was great to see so many old friends.

For all the cards, presents and good wishes received from so many people throughout the town and beyond.

To Mavis my wife for carrying all the secrecy and preparations. It was a weekend I shall remember and savour for the rest of my life.
