COMMITTED pupils at a Penarth School have raised £800 for three charities thanks to a Lenten Project.
The youngsters at St Joseph's RC Primary School organised lots of fun activities to raise money for CAFOD, the children of Chernobyl and the work of Father Finbarr O'Leary - a priest of the Archdiocese in Ecuador.
The charities were chosen by the newly-installed Archbishop of Cardiff, the Most Reverend Peter Smith.
With lots of enthusiasm, the children and staff devised many enjoyable and innovative fund-raising activities.
Mrs Archibald and the nursery staff and pupils raised over £200 with Easter Ducks enjoying a sponsored waddle.
Meanwhile, the various junior classes undertook bring and buy sales, raffles, a sponsored spell and even a sponsored silence.
The most popular activity was Easter Egg bingo, organised by Angela Spray who revealed hidden talents as a most proficient caller.
The children donated eggs of various sizes and enjoyed playing bingo to win a sweet treat for Easter Sunday.
They were joined by Father Matthew Henson who enjoyed a game of bingo but unfortunately did not win an egg.
In total, a magnificent £800 was raised. A cheque will be presented to Archbishop Smith when he visits the school at the end of April as part of St Joseph's 125th Anniversary celebrations.
