Judy's a star

A PENARTH nanny is the talk of Tinsel-town after landing herself a top job working for two Hollywood A-list stars.

Judy Cole, 42, was born and bred in Penarth but will now be travelling the world with glamorous couple Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas looking after their 20-month-old baby Dylan.

Judy started the £70,000 job two weeks ago and since then has faced a tidal wave of national tabloid publicity - some of it exaggerated and incorrect she says.

This week Judy's mum, Mrs Joan Cole, has spoken EXCLUSIVELY to the Penarth Times to put the record straight.

Mother-of-five Joan says the first thing that has annoyed them is newspapers reporting Judy was born in Barry.

She said: "She was totally born and bred in Penarth and proud of it. She was born at our house in Cedar Way. Her only connection with Barry was going to college for one year when she was 16."

The nanny, who lists the Gucci family and movie star Kathleen Turner as previous employers, went to Victoria Primary School and Stanwell Road Grammar School.

Then, at 16, Judy attended Barry College for a year and completed a Preparation for Nursing course.

Judy, who always loved children, soon moved to London and started her career as a nanny.

Mrs Cole, 72, said: "She said she wanted to travel the world and work with children. She's always loved children."

Totally devoted to her job, Judy took up a three-month position with the Gucci family and ended up staying six years. In 1993 she worked for Kathleen Turner at her Long Island beach house, looking after her daughter, Racheal Ann.

Now after 22 years of nannying ,Judy has got the job most could only dream of. Joan said: "I'm a very proud mum. She's gone a long way on her own merits. She's worked hard to get where she is. Judy is very good with children."

Judy is currently looking after Dylan at the couple's home in Bermuda and Joan says she is very happy.
