I AM so glad that local experts are finally taking the problems of child deaths by drowning seriously (Penarth Times, Thursday May 9).
I have long been trying to reinforce the message that children should never ever be allowed to play near any type of water.
And I wholeheartedly endorse Professor Jo Sibert's efforts in trying to raise awareness of this serious issue.
As summer approaches, how long will it be before we hear of another toddler who has died in the family pool during a barbecue or similar celebration?
It is so easy to take your eye off the child for just a minute and in that time they can fall into the pool and die - after all you can drown in a few inches of water can't you?
