EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of May 13, 1977:

* Welsh international Gerald Davies signed autographs for pupils of local schools during the Vale of Glamorgan Schools Rugby Union presentation evening at Dinas Powis Rugby Club last week. * Support for residents who have protested about noise from the Salvation Army Citadel in Plassey Street has come this week from the chairman of Penarth Town Council's planning committee, Cllr Mrs Maureen Kelly Owen. * Vandals caused damage amounting to £425 at a Dinas Powis building site some time during last week by smashing materials and sabotaging equipment. * Cllr John Cotter, of Barry, was elected the new Mayor of the Borough of Vale of Glamorgan at the annual meeting of the council on Monday.

* The Welsh Office has directed the Vale of Glamorgan Council not to take any decision on a plan for a major new PVC plant at a Sully chemical complex without special authorisation.

* The Mary and Martha Group, Llandough, commenced their Silver Jubilee celebrations on Tuesday of last week when they travelled with friends for their annual outing.

EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of May 15, 1992: * Vale Council tenants who persistently cause a nuisance to other families could find themselves evicted.

* Should Penarth remain in the Vale of Glamorgan or be incorporated into the City of Cardiff? That is the question being posed at a public meeting organised by Penarth Town Council at the Paget Rooms on Thursday.

* New Town Mayor Cllr Nigel Gibbs was installed by outgoing Mayor, Cllr Paul Gray, watched by Town Clerk, Mr Edward Vick at the annual meeting of Penarth Town Council last Thursday.

* Allyson Hazell, 19, of Archer Road, Penarth, will be attending St James' Palace on July 7 to receive her Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.

* The Sully Joint Branch of the Conservative Association were very pleased to welcome the new Member of Parliament for the Vale of Glamorgan Walter Sweeney, to their coffee morning on May 5.

* Lucky Mrs Maxwell of Penarth, won the luxury fruit hamper donated by P and C Church.
