WHO NEEDS to go all the way to the West End? The performance of Me and My Girl, by the PODS last week, at the Paget Rooms was fantastic. I saw the show Saturday night and the Paget Rooms was full to bursting. The whole cast gave a brilliant performance.
The show was colourful, witty and kept the audience interested throughout.
I had never seen Me and My Girl before, so the story was new to me. I really enjoyed every minute. The only thing I regretted was that I was not taking part myself.
The young people who took the leading roles were truly outstanding. How William kept up the Cockney accent was brilliant, he was perfect for the part, the way he looked and talked and moved around the stage was so natural.
Sally, well, she nearly had me in tears when she was singing her sad songs, even her eyes seemed to fill up.
Gerald, well, what can I say, he was so funny and I think he must have some rich ancestors somewhere to play the character so spot on. Jackie's voice was truly wonderful and she too played a perfect part.
The young dancers were excellent. It is so good to see our young people taking part and keeping the tradition of the PODS going - it's good to see them with the support of their families working hard as part of the community and giving us so much pleasure.
No wonder the final bow was taken to a standing ovation Well done, to you all! Thank you for a wonderful night.
