Profit motive

IN RESPONSE to your article in this week's edition of the Penarth Times, requesting comments from its readers in respect of the current parking fees being levied, I would be pleased for my thoughts to be considered.

Whilst I can understand Brewer's Fayre wishing to eliminate parking spaces being taken by visitors not using the bar and restaurant facilities in the Captain's Wife, and therefore, losing customers if all parking spaces are full, why though should they profit from all the monies collected.

A suggestion may be for a charity or good cause to receive the monies they do collect. I am sure this would demonstrate a good gesture by the brewery, especially if this were to be a local venue, which does not have a high profile. Perhaps the Penarth Times would run a competition to select such a good cause, the brewery would gain some advertising and the public would feel that at least their parking fees were being donated to a good cause.

My personal suggestion would be to nominate somewhere like Morgannwg ward at Barry hospital. My friend's mother is currently being cared for there by the wonderful nursing staff, who try so very hard to raise money for the extras which are not provided by Bro Taf Authority, to make the daily lives of its patients more comfortable.

I hope my thoughts will be considered along with many others, which I am sure you will receive and go some way to resolving this current situation to the amicable benefit of all parties.
