DVD Review: Spy Game

SPY GAME (15) stars Robert Redford as CIA officer Nathan Muir who is about to pack up for retirement after three decades of service.

However, on his final day of work he discovers former colleague Tom Bishop (Brad Pitt) has, for some reason, been jailed in China on espionage charges.

Muir and Bishop - the rookie agent, were inseparable for years, working together in Berlin, Beirut and Vietnam.

So now it's up to Muir to work out what's happened and take on the most dangerous and personal mission of his life... to save his protg.

This is a cracking thriller, full of excellent special effects and on location shots. It gives a great insight into the undercover spy world and the work that is being done while we just carry on with our everyday lives.

Although a top thriller, you should take note that this film needs 100 percent concentration due to every line of the script containing some vital bit of plot information. With the film topping two hours, that's not an easy task so make sure you're wide awake when you watch it.

That said, it's a very well made film which will satisfy lovers of gritty, fact-based films.
