DVD Review

PICTURE THIS: You're a recovering alcoholic cop forced to dry out in a place that made Alcatraz look friendly.

Shortly after checking into the centre, you have to give up your gun and your badge and submit yourself to humiliating group discussions.

That is, before most of your fellow sufferers end up dead.

This is the basic plot of Sylvester Stallone's new move D-Tox (18) released to buy on DVD.

In the 92-minute long film, the 56-year-old star's character Jake Malloy is subjected to ordeal after gory ordeal as he tries to close a chapter on one of the worst times in his career - in fact, in his life.

Stallone takes a good part, convincingly looking rough during his most trying times. And considering he will be 57 on July 6, no-one can argue that the Italian Stallion, made famous for his monosyllabic roles in Rambo and Rocky, is looking good for his age.

As each dead body appears, the audience tries to guess just whodunnit. But will Sly figure it out in time? You'll just have to wait and see.
