Play risk

A recent correspondence on the remote likelihood of being hit by a golf ball on the pitch 'n putt course at Penarth cliff top recreation area reminded me of a much more serious accident liable to happen on the adjacent children's play area.

Sitting there recently while watching my young grandson playing happily, I noticed several young children chasing each other, as they do, and narrowly missing collision with a rough and sharp-sided concrete pillar relic set in the middle of the play area.

On it is a dedication plate for an earlier play area donated by the Round Table.

In view of the care taken to smooth and soften play area surfaces and artifacts in the recent refurbishment, it would appear quite anomalous to leave this pillar in such a dangerous position.

Surely the dedication plate should be moved to a safer position?
