Scouting around really pays off

DINAS Powys Scouts have been making a real difference to the environment - by taking part in a recycling scheme.

The 1st Dinas Powys Scout Group have been taking part in The Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) 'Make Things Happen' recycling promotion.

Scouts have been collecting aluminium drinks cans to swap for cash and environmental points, with the funds going towards the Scout group.

Now they have reached their target and will receive cash for their cans.

As part of the 'make things happen' programme, they will also received 50 percent of the value of the cans again by being awarded environmental vouchers from Alupro.

Mr Robinson, Scout leader of the 1st Dinas Powys Scout Group, said: "The 'Make Things Happen' promotion has been a great success for the Scout group.

"All of the Scouts and their families have been involved in recycling their aluminium cans. "The funds raised from recycling the alu-cans is going towards buying much needed equipment for the Scout group."

By taking part in the 'Make Things Happen' campaign, 1st Dinas Powys Scout Group has also helped to keep their local environment a cleaner place to live.
