EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of July 22, 1977:

Angela Ryan of the 7th Penarth Guide Company, was presented with her Queen's Guide Award by District Commissioner, Mrs Elizabeth Jacklin at Albert Road Community Centre.

Kenny Francis produced a devastating spell of bowling to ensure a seven wicket victory and 18 points for Penarth away to Cross Keys.

Mr Edward Reed, a former pupil of Penarth Grammar School, has been appointed manager of the Pontypridd branch of the Trustee Savings Bank of Wales and Border Counties.

A petition asking the Vale Council to provide refuse bins at the Harbour View Estate has been turned down by the Environmental Health Committee.

Mr W M Barrett was adopted as the Barry Constituency Liberal Party Association's Prospective Parliamentary candidate at a meeting at Barry last week.

Sir Raymond Gower MP, has again called for action to deal with the dangers of cliff erosion at Penarth.

EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of July 24, 1992: Plans for a nine hole pay-as-you-play golf course on the outskirts of Dinas Powys were approved by the Vale Planning Committee on Monday.

Penarth Area Friends of the Earth have called on the Town Council to support the idea of a new electrified light railway into Penarth Haven.

David Powell a former pupil of St Cyres Comprehensive School, achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Physics at London University Imperial College.

A customer at a Dinas Powys shop has won a new car in a national competition. Ambulance driver Mr Roy Jeffries of Quarella Street, Barry has won a Peugeot 106 XN car in a competition organised by Dillons Newsagents and Supercigs.

A new £150,000 cruiser was severely damaged when a crane toppled over while lifting the vessel into Penarth Marina last week.

The cruiser had its superstructure almost sliced in half by the arm of the crane.

Overall winner of the Baby Show at Penarth Round Table's Summer Spectacular was bonny Taryn Tarrant-Cornish, of Coleridge Avenue who also took first prize in the 12-18 months class.
