More floats?

FIRST I must say "Well done" to all who entered the Carnival Parade. Everyone must have worked very hard as all the entries were excellent.

It was such a pity there were not more floats. I presume that was because of the new restrictions on the trailers and, of course, the insurance.

May I suggest to the Penarth Town Council that they compile a list of firms who hire out trailers and meet the necessary standards. This could then be given to anyone interested in entering a float, well in advance. Also perhaps take out an overall insurance - I know that a single insurance for a float can be as much as £80.

My friends and I have entered a float for 25 years and only stopped because of our ages. Actually 15 years ago we were called "the oldest swingers in town" by lots of people, but we still carried on.

It is a lot of hard work but the fun and laughter you get out of it is well worth it. So please, Penarth Town Council, don't let the float entries die off. Help them out somehow. It would be such a shame if the present situation carried on.
