Never too old

IN HENRY'S Corner last week, comment was made regarding Linda Gail Lewis being the sister of Jerry Lee Lewis and asking whether we can expect Chuck Berry's uncle to turn up in Penarth.

Well, if anywhere, it could be Penarth because, as Henry rightly stated, 50s rock'n'roll has long been a tradition here. Don't forget, Penarth was re-named Rock'n'Roll city back in the 60s.

However, I just want to remind Henry that Linda Gail Lewis is here because of her own wonderful talent, not her brother's, although he would be more than welcome.

I have, however been approached by Bobby Cochran, uncle of Eddie, but I think I'll pass, although there is a real possibility of the Big Bopper's son, Big Bopper junior, coming here next year. Watch this space.

I agree too, that many of our local rock'n'rollers are getting creaky.

Many though, even while past the first flush or two of youth, are still young enough to rock your socks off, such as John Lewis of the Rimshots, Ray Thompson and his group, the Reservoir Cats etc. etc.

Yup - this town still has a beat.
