DVD Review

THIS is not just an ordinary war film. Enigma is based on the best-selling novel by Robert Harris and is a fabulous insight into the intelligence that went into helping the Allies win World War Two.

Starring Dougray Scott and Kate Winslet, the story is set in Bletchley Park, roughly 60 miles away from London. Tom Jericho (Scott) is called back to the high security station to decode German communications before Nazi U-boats sink an Allied merchant shipping convoy crossing the Atlantic. The convoy has 10,000 passengers and vital supplies.

The story concentrates on Jericho's race to smash the code before the convoy is blown out of the water and his own personal battle to find beautiful but vanished Claire.

Running for just under two hours, Enigma is a certificate 15. There is minimal violence and strong language is kept to a minimum.

This film is entertaining and well worth buying on DVD or video as it warrants a second viewing.
