WORRIED residents are demanding action, after a wall was knocked down for a third time at a notorious Penarth accident blackspot.
Residents had a narrow escape, when two vehicles collided at the junction of Archer Road and Victoria Road.
One vehicle was left embedded in a wall, and the other was badly damaged.
The accident happened on Saturday afternoon, around 3pm, and involved a Renault Megane and a Landrover Freelander.
Despite the severe damage, only one person was injured.
The emergency services were on the scene immediately, after being contacted by a local resident, who had heard the crash.
Resident Brian Stephens, of Archer Road, said that the crash had sounded "almost like an explosion." He added that the spot is a dangerous corner, and that it was an accident waiting to happen.
It is the third time this particular wall has been knocked down, due to vehicles smashing into it.
He said there had been a number of similar accidents at this junction in the past.
Another local resident, who does not want to be identified, said she was in her house at the time , when she heard a "terrible crash."
She phoned for an ambulance, and added that it was "such a relief," when the emergency services arrived and took over.
She stated: "All of the walls here have been done in, the last accident was in July."
The resident said she saw a female driver stuck in one of the vehicles, adding that the injured woman was rescued with assistance. The other vehicle is believed to have been carrying three small children.
South Wales Police said that an accident had occurred between the two vehicles, and one person had to be treated for minor injuries.
The last incident in this area occurred in July, at the junction of Archer Road and Salisbury Avenue, which resulted in a van crashing into the wall of Stanwell School, after colliding with a car.
The driver of the van suffered back and neck injuries.
