CD review

COLDPLAY seem to have been around for years and rumour has it they could overtake U2 in popularity.

Their new album Rush Of Blood To The Head has 11 tracks on it, including the hit single In My Place which is enjoying a lot of air-play on prime time radio slots.

All the songs have different tempos and meanings, but there is no getting away from the fact this is 100 percent Coldplay.

The first track 'Politik' sums up the band's interest in the world around them. In fact, on the back of the CD sleeve is a note from the band on fair trade and a couple of websites they find interesting. However the songs don't shove any political message down the ears of the listener.

And if you are a fan of quiet, calming music, then this album is great. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, Green Eyes and A Whisper are lovely songs.

But be warned - Coldplay are not known for their rousing rhythms. This not the kind of CD you want to listen for getting ready for a rowdy night out. It's a relaxing trip for a contemplative mood and does not pretend to be anything else.
