Taken aback

I AM a Vale resident who has frequently visited Barry and the Memorial Hall. I was quite taken aback on my last visit to find that the Memorial Hall had been renamed "The Memo".

I understand from some local people that at times, some people have referred to the hall by this name, but I have never experienced it myself.

I felt that the original name had been disrespected, and that the memory of those who died in the Wars had been reduced to the status of a sticky note.

I hope that respect for the lives of our forebears will ensure that the original name be restored at some appropriate moment.

Perhaps November 11 would be most apt.
