DINAS COUPLE Stan and Babs Hall, of Brecon Court, toasted 50 years of marriage on September 2.
They celebrated the occasion with an evening gathering for friends and family held at St Andrews Golf Club on Saturday, September 7.
Babs described the evening as "brilliant", as lots of familiar faces turned up to help them celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in style.
The couple have lived in Dinas Powys for the past five years, but Babs, 68, is originally from Barry and Stan, 69, comes from Scotland.
Babs said they first met on a blind date.
She explained: "My friend, Eileen Miller and I went to a dance where we arranged to meet her boyfriend, and he had brought his friend Stan along."
At the time Babs was working in a boarding school in Dorset as an assistant cook and Stan was in the navy.
Stan and Babs got married in Scotland on September 2, 1952, after a six-month courtship, and on their wedding night they went to the cinema, instead of having a reception.
Babs described the weather on her wedding day as "beautiful and sunny".
The couple lived in Scotland for four years and then moved onto Cornwall.
After leaving the navy, Stan Worked for British Airways as an aircraft engineer.
They have five children - Jackie, Robert, Michael, Andrew (who lives in Penarth) and Mark, as well as 15 grandchildren.
In her spare time, Babs enjoys swimming and Stan plays golf.
Babs added that they have remained married for 50 years, because they "seem to gel together".
Finally, they would like to thank all of their friends and family for a wonderful night, which included a buffet and disco.
