THE LADY pictured in the article "Stop this Cruelty" (Penarth Times September 19), is I feel an impostor masquerading as Lorraine Barratt AM.
The real Lorraine Barratt in the role of chairperson of the All Party Animal Welfare Group's meeting at the National Assembly on July 31 2002, absolutely refused to allow hunting with dogs to be placed on the agenda for the next twelve months.
The reason being that it was too controversial and the Tories had set conditions upon their inclusions on the APAWG. One of the conditions was not to allow any discussion to take place on hunting with dogs.
Claire Bryant, who is a full-time employee of the RSPCA and secretary of the APAWG fully supported that view.
The minutes also show Lorraine Barratt and Claire Bryant adamantly refused to allow the group to discuss the needless destruction of the four million animals in laboratories every year.
