EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of September 23, 1977:

Local Police Officer Terry Brady was presented with Penarth Labour Club baseball teams' Player of the Year trophy by Vice-Chairman, Mr K Wiggins, watched by team manager, Mr M Riley.

At the recent annual general meeting of the Penarth District Local History Society the retiring Chairman Mrs Elsie Parker-Jones warmly greeted the new Committee.

Unlicensed street trading will be illegal in Penarth town centre and offenders will be liable to a fine of £50, the Vale Parliamentary and General Purposes Committee heard.

Cheques totalling £3,710 from the Queen's Silver Jubilee Appeal fund were presented recently at South Glamorgan County Headquarters, Cardiff to finance the youth helping the community projects in the County.

Warden Mrs Eileen Coffin and her helpers organised a super Jubilee dinner for residents of Fairoaks Comm-unity Sheltered Housing Development recently.

A call has been made to give cyclists an easier ride around Penarth by introducing bike lanes and other special measures.

Investigations have begun to determine whether the former tip site at Cosmeston contains any potentially hazardous substances.

Anthony Webley of Penarth Sea Angling Club, won the junior championship at the Welsh Brewers Allbright Bitter Open event last Sunday.

Penarth Christians took part in last Saturday's March For Jesus Service. Services were held at Victoria Square and Belle Vue Park.

Eighteen-year-old goalkeeper Morgan Williams, of Redlands Road, Penarth, who was in Cardiff City's Squad for last weeks European Cup Winners Cup tie against Admira Wacker, of Austria, signed autographs for the fans on the big night at Ninian Park.
