A FORMER Dinas Powys resident who recently set up her own interior design consultancy will be revealing her tricks of the trade tonight at a local gallery.

Interior designer Bronwen Ackerman, of Westbourne Road, Penarth, set up her design consultancy called D:ZINE Interiors earlier this year.

The aim of her company is to provide an efficient, cost effective service to clients and to help them re-design and re-think their interiors.

Bronwen has come a long way since her sixth form days at St Cyres School. She said: "I grew up in Dinas Powys and have travelled since. I moved back to Penarth in February 2001, but I've been in the business for 20 years, having worked in London for 11 years."

Bronwen first started working as an interior designer in 1984, having gained a diploma in the History of Fine and Decorative Arts with the New Academy for Art Studies in London.

She has worked with the prestigious family firm, Charles Hammond Ltd as an assistant designer, followed by several years with the well-known designer Nina Campbell.

In 1990, she returned to Wales and continued working in interior design with Chameleon Interiors as one of the main interior design consultants.

Her projects have included domestic clients in England and Wales, penthouse apartments in the Cardiff Bay area, and other private domestic residences within the Cardiff and Vale areas.

She said: "I'm very keen on art and love living in Penarth as it's quite creative."

Mum-of-two Bronwen, whose grandfather William Bevan built Plymouth Road, has always had a love for art, influenced by her father, esteemed architect TG Jones.

She concluded: "I really enjoy Penarth because everything is here, and we've got access to everything."

Bronwen's talk on Interior Design and the Finishing Detail will be held at the Washington Gallery on Stanwell Road, tonight at 7.30pm.
