EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of September 30, 1977: Penarth Windsor Bowling Club Champion, Peter Jarrett was presented with the cup by President, Mr Trevor Nash following the club finals last Sunday.

An application by BP Pension Trust Ltd to renew consent for tipping of household refuse at the quarry east of Mile End Road, Penarth has been refused by the Vale Planning Committee.

Penarth Police are appealing for information about two men after the theft of a bronze statue of "Red Rum" valued at £175 from "Table Talk" Glebe Street.

Penarth Conservative Club skittles Champion of Champions, Mr Bill Elliott was presented with the Jubilee Cup by Mr Fred Jenkins and trophy by Cllr Eric Nelmes.

Attractive Ann Larcombe of Queen's Road, Penarth, was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a cheque for £10 when she came third in the Staff Princess Competition at Butlins Clacton-on-Sea holiday centre.

A proposal to build a new community hall at Sully was approved by the Vale Planning Committee on Monday despite a petition of objection.

The controversial proposal to build a new shop at Lower Penarth was approved by the Vale Planning Committee on Monday.

Seaman Christopher Brady of Penarth is currently in the United States of America where he is serving abroad the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal. Christopher completed his new entry training in the Royal Navy recently at HMS Raleigh and was lucky enough to be drafted to HMS Ark Royal as his first ship.

Penarth Citizens Advice Bureau dealt with a total of 720 enquiries during August, including 25 from Dinas Powys, seven from Sully and six from Llandough.

Sixteen-year-old David Dymond of Royal Close, Penarth, made his home debut in front of family and friends at the Leisure Centre, Penarth on Saturday, October 10. Lining up in the international wrestling spectacular, David has spent the last eight months training hard for the wrestling ring.
