Tree cutting

I WAS sorry to see some of the residents of the Gardens Area, complaining about the Council's tree cutting policy.

As a long standing resident living in Coleridge Avenue, I have been in touch with Penarth Council and the Vale for years to have these enormous lime trees correctly pruned, which at last is being done.

We have one approximately 60 foot high, 15 feet from our sitting room window. It gives off sticky sap all summer, which makes a terrible mess on paintwork, killing all the plants growing near it.

Cars need washing several times a week and there is also the problem of blocked guttering and down pipes. This year we had to have the down pipes removed and cleared, all at our own expense.

The roots of these trees pass under our boundary wall, across the lawn and under the property. I have photographs to prove this.

Finally, as lime trees grow quickly, within a couple of years they will have grown back into nicely shaped trees, under control.
