Shopping around for showbiz stars

PENARTH has recently welcomed the arrival of the first ever 'showbiz' shop in South Wales.

Well known radio presenter Charlie Power, who is a familiar voice on Red Dragon and Real Radio, has come up with a unique way of presenting his entertainment agency, by launching his own 'showbiz shop', called the Charlie Power Agency.

The store on Albert Road, provides a convenient showcase for hundreds of artists from tribute bands, to after dinner speakers and film star look alikes, and has been open to the public for the past four weeks.

Charlie said: "People are often nervous when booking an act for a special occasion. The launch of my 'showbiz shop' will hopefully make the whole process a lot more enjoyable."

He explained that in the past, people have always booked an act over the telephone, and then waited until the day of the event, to see the artist perform. With the launch of his new entertainment store, they will be able to call in, enjoy a cup of coffee and browse around dozens of photos, videos and demo tapes before making their final choice.

He chose Penarth as the ideal location for his business, because there are lots of places in the area that put on entertainment, and he wanted to service them locally.

Charlie, who lives by the marina with his wife Sandie added: 'There has been a good response so far, the signs are encouraging".
