Dragons roar to their first victory

Sully Colts Dragons v Rhoose Raiders

ON A COLD frosty morning, Sully Colts Dragons U-8s breathed fire into their season by gaining their first win against a previously unbeaten Rhoose team.

To date the hard work and effort put into training and previous matches had yet to reap the rewards the keen young footballers had deserved.

All, however, came good on Saturday when the Dragons quickly got into their stride, snuffing out early pressure from the well organised Rhoose side as a result of strong solid defending by Adam Tucker and good brave goalkeeping by Jordan Ferriday.

The Dragons slowly started to take control of the game by dominating the midfield with some tenacious tackling from Morgan Harris Innes and the vision of Elliott McAndrew.

His control and accurate passing set up striker Connor Kavanagh to unluckily hit the post on two occasions after good control and positioning.

Further Sully pressure finally paid off just before half-time when Max Bramhill finished off a good move with an excellent shot into the corner of the net, sparking wild celebrations as it was the team's first ever goal!

The second half followed the same pattern with Rhoose coming back strongly only to be thwarted by some excellent interceptions by Callum Blunt, who consistently turned defence into attack with his intelligent passing.

This was well supported by midfield dynamo and man of the match Adam Jones whose excellent all-round play ensured the Dragons continued to dominate possession and create numerous good chances.

The team's first victory was secured after good play from Tomos Griffiths whose fine run and pass allowed super striker Max Bramhill to coolly score his second goal with a powerful shot after skilfully beating two men.

So the Dragons earned their first win with an excellent team performance much to the delight of the excited parents on the line.
